BIRMINGHAM based cricket player and coach Salma Bi is organising a female futsal fundraiser to raise money for the first ever national women’s Ten10 indoor cricket tournament at Edgbaston on April 28.
The fundraiser at Birmingham International Futsal Arena on March 10 will see around 40 ladies attempt to set a new record of 10 hours non-stop playing from9am until 7pm. The event will also highlight the contribution of women in sport in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

CRICKET legends Sir Ian Botham and Farokh Engineer are backing plans for a new state-of the-art-cricket academy in Bangladesh.
Due to open its doors in late 2012, the academy is the latest venture from Scotland-based curry king and entrepreneur, Tommy Miah, and a testament to his long-standing commitment to promote Bangladesh in a positive light. It is expected to provide a huge boost for cricket in Sylhet and an important breeding ground for young talent in untouched rural localities.

ENGLAND sports stars Isa Guha and Rajiv Ouseph are hoping to inspire more ethnic minority sports people to represent their country on the global stage in the lead up to London 2012, as new brand ambassadors for the Lebara British Asian Sports Awards.

LEGENDARY batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, stole the show at the inaugural Asian Awards in London this week. The ace cricketer picked up the Outstanding Achievement in Sport award and was voted winner of the Lebara People’s Choice Award.

LIFE has been tough for Anwar Uddin in recent months but the footballer is looking for the ultimate high this weekend.
